Styrotech® ST-1550 Stretch Sleeve Applicators

The Styrotech® ST‑1550 is Axon’s steady‑state, value‑focused stretch sleeve applicator designed for large containers and jugs in demanding environments. Built for predictable performance and rugged reliability, the ST‑1550 is proudly engineered and assembled in the USA at our Raleigh, North Carolina facility.

Unlike shrink sleeve systems, stretch sleeves require no heat or adhesives. That makes the ST‑1550 an excellent choice for operations that need low energy usage, excellent chemical resistance, and full 360° label coverage on round and non‑round containers.

Upgrades over the prior generation include a redesigned frame for easier access, Allen‑Bradley PLC, 7" color HMI, improved sensors and air cylinders, and an updated loader assembly (linear rail with lightweight arm) that reduces wear and supports smooth, repeatable application. The result is a reliable workhorse for steady, mid‑speed production.

Why Choose Stretch Sleeves?

  • Full 360° coverage for complete decoration
  • Excellent chemical resistance for harsh environments

What is the Styrotech® ST-1550 designed for?

The ST-1550 is a steady-state, value-focused stretch sleeve applicator engineered for large containers and jugs. It is built for predictable mid-speed production in demanding environments where durability and consistent performance are essential.

How does the ST-1550 differ from shrink sleeve systems?

Unlike shrink sleeve systems, stretch sleeves require no heat and no adhesives. The ST-1550 mechanically expands and applies elastic film directly to the container, making it ideal for facilities seeking lower energy usage and simplified utility requirements.

What types of containers are ideal for the ST-1550?

The ST-1550 is best suited for:

  • Large jugs and bottles

  • Industrial and household chemical containers

  • Cleaning products (e.g., window washer fluid)

  • Kitty litter jugs

  • Large cylindrical containers requiring durable, chemical-resistant labeling

It performs well on both round and non-round containers.

What industries commonly use the ST-1550?

The ST-1550 is commonly used in:

It is especially well suited for harsh or chemical-heavy environments where label durability matters.

What are the key benefits of stretch sleeve technology?

Stretch sleeves offer:

  • Full 360° decoration

  • Excellent chemical resistance

  • No heat or adhesives required

  • Lower energy usage compared to shrink systems

  • Recyclable film options

These benefits make stretch sleeves ideal for industrial and chemical applications.

What production speeds does the ST-1550 support?

The ST-1550 is designed for steady, mid-speed production, providing dependable throughput for large containers. It prioritizes consistent performance and reliability over high-speed shrink-style output.

Is the ST-1550 designed for easy maintenance?

Yes. The ST-1550 features:

  • Rugged frame construction

  • Side/rear access for simplified maintenance

  • Updated loader assembly with lightweight linear rail arm

  • Improved film registration sensors

  • Allen-Bradley® PLC and 7” color HMI

These features reduce wear, simplify routine service, and improve repeatability.

Can the ST-1550 integrate into existing production lines?

Yes. The ST-1550 supports:

  • Through-conveyor integration

  • Container orientation options

  • Pneumatic lift assist for changeovers

  • Standard industrial controls for seamless system integration

It is designed to fit into chemical and industrial packaging lines with minimal disruption.

When should a manufacturer choose the ST-1550 over the ST-2650?

The ST-1550 is ideal when:

  • Production speeds are moderate

  • Budget-conscious investment is important

  • Applications focus on rugged reliability

  • Containers are large-format jugs and industrial bottles

The ST-2650 is typically selected when higher throughput, servo-driven precision, and more advanced motion control are required.
