learn moreAurora® Wide shrink sleeve applicators are the mid-speed, wide-format models in Axon’s complete line of shrink sleeve systems. Aurora Wide applicators provide dependable, steady-state production speeds up to 200 containers per minute and are designed for full body sleeves, over-the-cap sleeves, and other wide-format shrink applications.
Aurora Wide applicators are mandrel-style machines that use servo motion control to deliver consistent, repeatable performance. Container changeovers are tool-less and typically require less than ten minutes depending on product sizes and shapes.
Aurora Wide applicators feature PackML programming and user interfaces that simplify machine operation, maintenance, and line integration.
Like every Axon shrink sleeve applicator, Aurora Wide offers the flexibility to perform five important shrink applications:
With wide-format capability, reliable performance, and fast changeovers, Aurora Wide shrink sleeve applicators deliver excellent value for customers requiring wider film widths and diverse application formats.
What is the maximum speed of the Aurora® Wide shrink sleeve applicator?
Aurora® Wide delivers dependable, steady-state production speeds of up to 250 containers or multipacks per minute.
• Designed for mid-speed production environments
• Higher throughput than EZ-Wide models
• Ideal for wide-format applications requiring more output
Actual speed depends on container size, film material, and application configuration.
What film layflat range does Aurora® Wide support?
Aurora® Wide supports film layflat widths from 120 mm to 400 mm (4.72"–15.75").
• Designed for wide-format sleeve applications
• Suitable for large containers and multipacks
• Bridges the gap between standard Aurora and EZ-Wide platforms
This makes it well suited for packaging formats requiring wider film without moving into ultra-wide systems.
What container sizes can Aurora® Wide accommodate?
Aurora® Wide supports container or multipack cross-sections ranging from 75 mm to 250 mm (2.95"–9.84").
• Designed for larger diameter containers
• Suitable for bulk packaging and club-store multipacks
• Compatible with round and certain non-round geometries
Configuration is determined by container shape and sleeve material.
What shrink applications can Aurora® Wide perform?
Aurora® Wide is engineered to support multiple shrink sleeve formats.
• Full-body sleeves
• Full-body over-the-cap sleeves
• Tamper-evident bands
• Partial-body sleeves
• Multipack applications
This flexibility supports food, beverage, dairy, and large consumer goods packaging environments.
What materials and film thicknesses are compatible with Aurora® Wide?
Aurora® Wide supports PVC, PETG, OPS, and PLA shrink films.
• Standard film thickness: 40–70 microns (1.5–3.0 mil)
• Engineered for accurate feeding, registration, and cutting
• Designed for consistent performance at mid-speed production rates
Material selection depends on container geometry and shrink performance goals.
How long do changeovers take on Aurora® Wide?
Aurora® Wide features tool-less size changeovers that can typically be completed in less than ten minutes, depending on container size and shape.
• Push-button electronic height adjustment
• Servo-driven film feed and cutting assembly
• Recipe functionality for quicker setup transitions
This supports efficient SKU changes in mid-speed production environments.
What controls platform does Aurora® Wide use?
Aurora® Wide features industry-standard Allen-Bradley controls and servo systems.
• PackML programming structure
• Consistent terminology and screen layouts
• English-language HMI
• Designed for easier integration and maintenance
Standardization supports smoother line integration and operator training.
How does Aurora® Wide differ from EZ-Wide?
Aurora® Wide is designed for higher production speeds and expanded performance capabilities compared to EZ-Wide models.
• Higher maximum speeds (up to 250 cpm)
• Servo-driven motion control
• Mid-speed performance tier
• Enhanced configuration flexibility
EZ-Wide is typically selected for low-speed wide film applications, while Aurora® Wide is chosen when higher throughput is required.
Can Aurora® Wide integrate with shrink tunnels?
Yes. Aurora® Wide is designed to integrate with Axon shrink tunnels based on application requirements.
• Commonly paired with steam shrink tunnels
• Radiant and hot air configurations available depending on shrink needs
• Configured for wide-format film and large container shrink performance
Tunnel selection depends on sleeve material, container type, and desired shrink characteristics
