learn moreSLX Series shrink sleeve applicators are Axon’s high-speed, high-performance solution for manufacturers requiring dependable, steady-state production at speeds up to 800 containers per minute. Designed for food, beverage, and other high-output environments, SLX applicators deliver consistent, repeatable sleeve placement with precision servo control and advanced film management.
Built as mandrel-style machines, SLX applicators utilize dedicated servo drives for the feedscrew, film feed system, and cutting assembly. This architecture ensures accurate film feeding, registration, and cutting—even at elevated production speeds. Dual segment feedscrews with independent servo control provide smooth and flexible container handling across a wide range of product formats.
Digital Recipe Parameter Control is standard on the SLX-800 and optional on the SLX-600. This feature stores critical setup parameters for each container recipe and helps ensure the machine will not start—or continue production—if key parameters fall outside specification. This enhances both operating efficiency and production quality in high-speed environments.
Like every Axon shrink sleeve applicator, the SLX offers the flexibility to perform multiple important shrink applications:
SLX applicators are commonly integrated with steam shrink tunnels for uniform shrink performance, though radiant and convection tunnel configurations are available based on application requirements.
Whether running full-body decorative sleeves or tamper-evident bands, SLX applicators are engineered to support demanding production schedules while maintaining precision, repeatability, and uptime.
What production speeds can the SLX High-Speed Shrink Sleeve Applicator achieve?
The SLX Series delivers dependable, steady-state production speeds up to 800 containers per minute, depending on model and application.
• SLX-600: Up to 600 cpm
• SLX-800: Up to 800 cpm
• Designed for continuous high-output production environments
This makes the SLX ideal for beverage, food, and other high-volume packaging operations.
What container sizes can the SLX handle?
SLX applicators accommodate container diameters ranging from 30 mm to 125 mm (1.2"–4.9").
• Suitable for cylindrical beverage containers
• Supports a range of food and consumer packaged goods formats
• Designed for stable, high-speed container handling
Container geometry and application requirements determine final configuration.
What film layflat range does the SLX support?
The SLX supports film layflat widths from 50 mm to 200 mm (2.0"–7.8").
• Compatible with tamper bands and full-body sleeves
• Designed for precision cutting and registration
• Optimized for high-speed film feeding
This range supports a wide variety of shrink sleeve applications.
What materials and film thicknesses are compatible with the SLX?
SLX applicators run PVC, PETG, OPS, and PLA films.
• Standard film thickness: 40–70 microns (1.5–3.0 mil)
• Optional Thin Gauge Film Handling System for ultra-thin films
• Engineered to maintain speed without film instability
The thin gauge option allows manufacturers to pursue material reduction strategies while maintaining performance.
How does Digital Recipe Parameter Control improve performance?
Digital Recipe Parameter Control stores critical setup and operating parameters for each product recipe.
• Prevents startup if key settings are out of specification
• Maintains consistency across changeovers
• Reduces operator error in high-speed production
This feature is standard on the SLX-800 and optional on the SLX-600.
How long do changeovers take on the SLX?
SLX applicators are designed for tool-less size changeovers that can typically be completed in less than ten minutes, depending on container size and format.
• Push-button height adjustment
• Recipe-driven parameter recall
• Simplified mechanical adjustments
This supports efficient transitions between SKUs on high-output lines.
What shrink applications can the SLX perform?
SLX applicators are engineered for multiple shrink sleeve formats.
• Full body sleeves
• Full body over-the-cap sleeves
• Tamper-evident bands
• Partial body sleeves
The machine is commonly deployed in high-speed beverage and food production lines requiring both branding and product security.
